Colour is measured by hue, tone, and saturation. Hue is the gemstone's apparent colour, tone refers to lightness or darkness, and saturation indicates colour richness.
Gemstones are weighed, checked for imperfections, and graded on clarity, cut, size, and colour. Clarity follows a seven-point scale from Internally Flawless to Opaque.
